I have been exploring concepts of transformation and containment. These themes have allowed me to embrace visual symbolism, costuming, set design, and expressive color in my diverse artistic practice. Whether it be conversations about gender identity, relationships, or transformation, my work serves as a means of communicating and capturing selfhood. My current work focuses on the egg and how it symbolizes the beginning of a cycle. Whether hatched or broken, it will transform, taking on a new state of existence. This recurring motif reflects my relationship with transitioning as a transgender masculine individual. The bathtub as a setting for my work echoes the eggshell, a container for my natal body. The brown, white, and gray palette extends this experience, referencing eggshells, eyes, skin, and porcelain. Rendering gender identity with sprinkles of visual fantasy gives the ego enough safety to bend and change.
